    • MESSAGE TO ROOK SQUAD

All Call-signs under ROOK SQUAD. This event we will not have such a detailed uniform. It took way too long to outfit and we were close to starting late. Therefore, I am permitting only the Combat Uniform OCP, any OEF-CP vest of your choice as long as it is not Squad leader or Team leader, and only a backpack if you are carrying ammo for your friendly Auto-Rifleman or Launchers. If you were a backpack, it must match your uniform. I want all 5.56 weapons. Red Tracers. Any Attachments permitted. We need one AT, and one AA if possible. AT LAUNCHER = Leuchtbuche 84 mm. AA Launcher = Fliegerfaust 2 Stinger. Be sure to bring Earplugs, Maglite XL50, and Green Smokes for EXFIL. Pack light, but efficient. 20-30 KG is a good range. If you want a load-out last minute, ask me and I will provide a well balanced one on moments notice.

If you bring NVG, keep them in your vest or backpack until night. Bring IR STROBES. Put them on once it is night time. This will prevent friendly fire at night, and give any friendly CAS/MEDEVAC a location on friendly ground units.

Until further notice, Rook will be combined into a single Fire-team and will stay tight to me. There is no point in promoting two people to FTL to only lead two people. If more join, circumstances may be changed.

If you have any questions, concerns, or problems, please message me here, or on discord at "Damien Lucien Black#8710"

If anyone in ROOK does not speak English, or does not speak it well, I would highly appreciate a translation so they are not left out. I would do it myself, but Google Translate isn't the best for the German Language.

    • Area of Operation

      • Situation
Our last operation was a success, as we could establish two very important FOBs and secure a medium sized area in the south of Al Rayak. During the night after our first strike we've fought back many attempts of the enemy forces to throw us back into the sea and we've estrablished fortified strategic positions. But the enemy was doing the same on our western frontline at the river to Al Raayan. The enemy has currently ceased his attacks on our position, but it is still possible that the enemy will continue with the attacks at any time from the north or northeast. Besides, it seems that the enemy is waiting for our next steps and has increased their defensive capabilities in the southwestern riverlands of Al Rayak.
        • Enemy Forces
There are two important bases of the enemy forces located in the southwestern riverlands. Therefore we expect that the enemy defence line at the river is already fortified with bunkers and mounted machine guns. We also expect that they could have a mortar site deeper in the west of the region. We're sure that they'll have some SAM sites in the area to minimize our advantage concerning movability due to our helicopters. This threat is one of the main targets while approaching toward the western coast. We've to gain the air superiority in that area. The enemy has still strong forces in whole Al Rayak and was able to get his troops ready during the last night. So reinforcements by helicopters or trucks which will arrive from the north are quite likely to be expected. As long as the enemy will hold the Navy Outpost he could also send some armed boats through the rivers, but we haven't seen any evidence of this yet.
        • Friendly Forces
Due to the fightings of the last day, our force contains two infantry squads, one MedEvac and one mortar team. But we've still some motorized assets at FOB Bravo, which are in a good shape after the fightings of the night. We've some lack of recon capabilities, so gaining more intel and reconnaissance possibilities will be also a priorized task.
        • Attachments and Detachments
          NTR
        • Commander’s Evaluation
As the enemy has established a defence line at the coast on the west side of the river near Al Raayan, it'll be a hard time to get over the river to progress on our advance to the west coast. Also we don't have reconnaissance installments in the area, therefore we need to capture one of the enemy radio towers to intercept enemy movements. The tactical planning to achieve the progress on the western area of the southern coastline is up to the squadleaders. Maybe an infiltration from the north could be promising, or a direct attack on the river defence line after enough reconnaissance work via darter drones or recon soldiers seems to be something which could lead to success. Movement in the area would mostly be restricted to motorized assets as long as we don't have air superiority in the area, to keep our helicopters safe. But in the end it's the decision of the Platoon Sergeant. The usage of mortar fire from the mortar team could be a very helpful support during the crossing of the river. But keep in mind that we can't be sure that Al Raayan is already free of any civilian population.
      • Mission

        • Phase 1
          • One squad will infiltrate the northern territory and capture target INDIA
          • The other squad will start planning the approach on the western riverside and start as soon as they are ready
          • Capture target ALPHA
          • Capture target BRAVO
          • Capture target CHARLIE
          • Capture target DELTA
          • Capture target ECHO
          • Ensure air superiority in the area

        • Phase 2
          • Fight back possible approaches of the enemy to retake sectors in the area, which are expected from the north
          • Cross the northern river near target ECHO
          • Capture target FOXTROT
          • Capture target GOLF
          • Capture target HOTEL
          • Capture target JULIETT
      • Execution
        • Concept of Operations
As soon as our infantry squads are ready, one will cross the northern river near Al Nozha Refinery and infiltrate the enemy territory. It's vital, that this squad prevents any combat situations before they reach the radio tower. Capturing this target will ensure reconnaissance capabilities concerning enemy movement in the area, especially enemy reinforcements which arrive from the north. After capturing the tower it could be expected that the enemy is alarmed, so it has to be defended. It may depend on the approach to the target and how fast the enemy can be overwhelmed at the target. As soon as it's considered to be safe, the squad will retreat to blufor territory. After resupply at FOB BRAVO they'll support the other squad during the attack on the western targets.
During this approach the other squad will already gather information about the enemy presence in the western area and may finish planning the tactical plan to approach that area. They don't need to wait for the infiltration squad and can begin with their operation as soon as they are ready.
For crossing the river, we've provided some boats south of Al Nozha. But as long as the enemy defence line is manned it's not recommended to approach via boats.
The sequence in which and how exactly the targets will be captured is up to the squadleaders and their assessment of the actual situation in the area.
After capturing the last target at the southwestern riverland, it's recommended to ressuply at target ECHO via logistic support from FOB BRAVO. Therefore establishing a defensive position there to prevent enemy approaches will be possible and the enemy can't sneak across the river as long as the squads would resupply at the FOB.
The next phase can be expected to be not as harsh as the first one. The targets have more distance to each other and the terrain is also more suitable for infantry movements. But keep still in mind, that the enemy is aware of our presence and prepared himself. So you can also expect enemy tripwire mines or similar attempts of the enemy to slow down our progress without really being near our forces.

It can be expected that as soon as the enemy is aware of our advance, he'll mobilize reinforcements in the north and could also start attacks against our fortified positions in the north an northeast. So be prepared for enemy reinforcements via trucks, helicopters or even amphibious vehicles.

    • Yes, no CAS because we can't afford any at the moment. And it's strong enemy AA in the area.
That's why we have the mortar team. :)
