  • Strategize a victory!
    Age of Empires IV

The critically acclaimed award winning RTS is back again to help you push for victory! The first game of the series was released October 15th, 1997 and has since built its own legacy, 15 years with over 50 civilisations spanning 10,000 years of history across almost a dozen titles! Now, after 12 years of silence, Microsoft Studios has announced at Gamescom, that AoE IV is being produced by none other than Relic Entertainment, famous for top of the line RTS titles including Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3 and Company of Heroes. “We can’t wait to tap into our strengths as a studio to fuse historical context with deep strategic gameplay and to bring this franchise back to the forefront of gaming and into the hands of its beloved community.”Relic Entertainment.

Alas, there’s no release date yet and it could be as late as 2018! Have an opinion? Comment here for some speculation.

    Total War: Warhammer 2

One of my personal favourite strategy series, Total War, has also got a forerunning title in the works and it has been so for some time. With a release date as early as the 28th of September, I’m almost too excited! All 4 sides have finally been confirmed; High Elves, Dark Elves, Lizardmen & Skaven. There was once a time where Chaos besieged the lands and a conclave of High Elves had no choice but to forge an arcane vortex. With that power they were able to defend the realm, however, the vortex begins to falter and once again, this realm stands at the brink of ruin. “Four races, four outcomes, a single goal: control of the Great Vortex, for good or ill.” Steam Store.

Warhammer 2 brings a new narrative, set across a large campaign map that covers the continents of Lustria, Ulthuan, Naggaroth and the Southland. With 8 legendary lords across 4 - Warhammer fantasy - iconic races, players must foil the progress of the other races and face off towards a definitive end game scenario, for the first time ever in the TW series.

What’s best, if you pre-order TW:Warhammer 2 you’ll also attain the Norsca DLC for the first TW:Warhammer game, a very impressive, barbaric race that serve the dark lords through hunting and pillaging, bringing extra gameplay and entertainment to the original game in a way that exists only to lay waste to your enemies! Not only this but shortly after launch, both game campaigns will be combined into one single map and players may embark on monumental campaigns as any owned race, from either title. Exciting stuff.

Have an opinion? Why not share it here where I continued with some of what I’m looking forward to and also, what I’m a little weary of.
